Understanding the Study’s Findings
Dr. Casey Greene, known for his expertise in weight management through ConsultRX, a leading consultative service featuring clinical pharmacists, highlighted the key findings of the study, which analyzed data from over 6,600 individuals worldwide. The study revealed four distinct phases of metabolism throughout a person’s life:
1. Fastest: Neonate to 1 year
2. Declines Slowly: 1-20 years
3. Remains Stable: 20-60 years (even during pregnancy)
4. Declines Slowly: 60+ years

But what is metabolism, exactly? Metabolism is the whole sum of reactions that occur throughout the body within each cell and that provide the body with energy.

This study provided insightful new information while simultaneously making us reconsider old assumptions about metabolism and weight gain. There are several factors that influence metabolism - not just calories in vs. calories out - including age, genetics, stress, hormones, environmental factors, and more.

The Future of Weight Management: A Holistic Approach

Dr. Greene believes this study is a step towards a more nuanced understanding of how our bodies manage energy and, ultimately, weight. “This is not just about calories in and calories out; it’s about understanding how various lifestyle factors interplay with our metabolic processes.” Dr. Greene also recommends Pharmacist Formulations' Weight Loss Duo - Metabolic Foundation and Carb Metabolic Gummies. "This supplement duo addresses many of the common root metabolic issues we see when patients struggle with their weight.", says Dr. Greene.

The study’s findings encourage healthcare providers, nutritionists, pharmacists, and patients to look beyond the numbers on the scale. Instead of attributing weight changes solely to metabolism, Dr. Greene suggests examining dietary habits, physical activity, sleep patterns, and stress levels to create a well-rounded weight management plan.
